English Golden Retrievers
One of the most beautiful breeds of dog we think. Famous for their lustrous coat of gold. The golden retriever's broad head with its friendly and intelligent eyes, short floppy ears and straight muzzle is a breed hallmark.
If you have ever owned a Golden Retriever then it goes without saying. They are as sweet and lovable as they are beautiful. Currently English Golden Retrievers have origins in the Netherlands, Denmark, Romania, Serbia, Hungary, Spain, France and Germany. They are mistakenly termed "English Cream Goldens or White Goldens but the correct term is simply English Golden. English Goldens are of lighter coat color. You will never see a dark rusty color English Golden. They tend have a stockier build and have a flatter top line that the American Goldens. Danehy Goldens are raised to be companion or therapy dogs but they have potential for service, field, agility, tracking and search as they have an excellent sense of smell and a strong instinct to retrieve. All Goldens whether American or English are extremely loyal and loving and want to be by your side. Therefore although they love the outdoors they do not do well when left alone in a fenced yard no matter how big the yard is. When mature they prefer to be kept indoors or in a crate or appropriate kennel when alone. When you are home they can be velcro dogs. Velcrod to you! They are suitable for almost any environment but do best with room to move and play. Danehy Goldens are exposed to water and are even given the chance to swim if raised in the warmer months. We encourage continuing to expose them to water as it is such a pleasurable experience for them to swim and retrieve their adult lives. It is in thier DNA! Of note Golden Retrievers unlike Labrador Retrievers have a longer coat which requires a bit more grooming that a lab.
A English Golden Retriever puppy is a naturally intelligent, gentle and fun loving family friend who's always full of energy (when they are not napping) They are super friendly, with a playful temperament and willingness to please. There is a reason Goldens are a family favorite.
